I got an opportunity to visit Eastern State Penitentiary the other day. I have been wanting to visit for sometime but just never had the time. Although I was expecting this place to be creepy, it just simply wasn't, it felt more like a ruin. Since I went in the winter, they only have guided tours. I guess they would be concerned with someone being stuck in the building and freezing to death (it is quite cold in there) I plan on going back when it is warmer and doing the self guided tour.

I love old buildings. There is obviously a lot of history in there. Well here are some images- enjoy!

As an on going effort to provide my clients with cutting edge images, I purchase cutting edge equipment. The new Canon EOS 7D is our newest member of The Medina family. She boast 18 megapixels, 19 AF points with spot AF accuracy. ISO sensitivity, HD video and a ton of other stuff. I know this is probably greek to alot of people, but it translates into one fine piece of equipment!

Well as time comes and goes, so does equipment. I had an older flash that just wasn't working properly so I retired it. The battery pack was still in perfect condition. I had considered selling the battery pack but figured I would look into getting another flash- I found one and ordered it- so of course I wanted to try it out as soon as I got it- it works great!

Kelly & Jason traded vows at the CHILDRENS GARDEN in the CAMDEN AQUARIUM which is where the reception was as well. In spite of less than good weather forecast, we had a great day! The rain held off until late in the evening and gave us some dramatic Philadelphia Skyline shots!

I was looking forward to this event becasuse of the shark tank- it was everything I had hoped it would be- Videography was done by Steve Williams of PERSEMPREVIDEOS, he also used an old Canon film video camera- should be a cool video! HERE is the Video by PerSempreVideos.

Sunday was Bina & Mark's Wedding. I don't want to give a whole lot of detail because I know I won't get the terminology right- so I will just say this- It was a wonderful event! The Katuba signing was very emotional- The Colors radiant, The music moving- It was a gala event for sure.
THE MANSION in Voorhees was the setting for more than 300 guests, The DJ MAGIC MIKE had the whole house on their feet.....ALL NIGHT!

We did Melanie & Jason's Wedding last Sunday- inspite of the threat of rain, it was a beautiful day. Melanie & Jason said their nuptials at THE PENNINGTON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Pennington NJ to a packed out church. Then we headed over to the reception at THE BELLE VOIR MANOR in Bensalem Pa where music was provided by THE GFORCE BAND which had the crowd up and dancing as Andrew from STOMPINGBREAD PRODUCTIONS and I documented the event.

Jennifer & Colby Wedding

What a great start to a great weekend. Saturday was Jennifer & Colby's wedding at the PHILADELPHIA HYATT. The couple chose to see each other before the ceremony (something I wish all my couples would do) We had Colby stand outside in anticipation of his Bride to be's tap on the shoulder- The emotion that was captured in moving- I almost cried myself!
The love they share did not stop there and was expressed all evening long. Isis Petrie of POSH EVENTS LLC and her two awesome assistants, Malakeia & Jenelle had all the details handled and kept everything running smoothly (as if we should expect anything less from POSH EVENTS!)
Working along side was Chris from VIDEO BY LOUIS ANTHONY and the DJ rockin the house was Sam Catrambone from CENTER STAGE ENTERTAINMENT he was actually spinning records! That is harder than pushing some buttons on a laptop. Jennifer & Colby- Have a great honeymoon!

Stephanie & Joao Wedding

Jan 17th we did Stephanie & Joao's wedding. We had planned to take pictures outdoors ( at least for the wedding party)It was so frigid outside that the tips of my ears froze! The Couple and company did such an awesome job braving the cold never complaining. We did not shoot a whole lot outside because it was so frigid- and were able to get a few inside.

The ceremony and reception were at SEA OAKS COUNTRY CLUB. It is a beautiful location.SYNERGETIC SOUNDS helped out with the room lighting by providing spot and up lighting to give a little more ambience as well as give a mix of sounds!

What a great couple! I had so much fun with Sheilla and Michael, they are such great souls. They are both such sweethearts! It was a real pleasure meeting both their families!

We shot their wedding this past Saturday at St Joan of Arc in Marlton, NJ. The reception was handled by Rick Hoyt of LITTLE MILL COUNTRY CLUB also in Marlton, NJ.

Entertainment provided by the G FORCE BAND. Planning was done by the ever professional Isis of POSH EVENTS LLC.

Albuquerque New Mexico Trip

Back from Albuquerque- I went out there to help a friend of mine get some things in order. I got a chance to go up to the Sandia Mountains and do some quick running. The elevation I was at was around 5100 feet. Since I started running I always wanted to run at higher elevations to see how much it would effect me. You can definitely feel a difference while running. The terrain was excellent for trail running- kind of like sand but with very fine small rocks. I got a little nervous because there are Mountain Lions all around up there and I figured I must look like a big cheeseburger to a hungry lion so I did not venture to far.

The landscape is beautiful but I still have the feeling that there is no place like home. I used to resent that 'home' was NJ, but I have come to appreciate my home. We have mountains, beach, trails, cities, all within an hour of driving. For Diversity, you just can't beat my home!

Allison & Keith 12/6/08 Wedding

December 6th was Allison and Keith's Wedding. It took place at this awesome mill in Stockton NJ called PRALLSVILLE MILLS . It is located right on Route 29 in Stockton, just outside Lambertville NJ. It had a great red barn and the mill was full of old gears and huge timbers- a real treat and a break from the norm, as far as wedding's go.

The reception kicked off in the wine cellar with sounds by ELITE ENTERTAINMENT. We worked side by side with MIRAGE PRODUCTIONS, INC the videographer to capture the days events.

We had such a great time with Allison, Keith and their families- What a great party!

A great new product

I have been working on this product for sometime and now it is available for release. This is bar none the best light bag on the market. As a matter of fact, it is the only one like it on the market. Most bags are designed for either carrying the light-stands and another for carrying the heads- Then you have to get to your location, spend time putting them together and then break them down.

Results from the Marathon

The Philadelphia Marathon was quite an experience. My goal was just to complete the darn thing! I did complete it, it took me 5 hours and 22 minutes to do so. I was fine up until mile 18 and that was when I hit "THE WALL", It is in those remaining miles that you dig deep and pull inspiration from what ever resource you can. I thought about alot of things in those last 8.2 miles. Most of my thoughts were consumed with quitting ( I must be honest) but I held on and after some grueling miles and alot of pain, the finish line was in site and I was soon over it.

My Coach Jean Marie asked the girls handing out the medals if I could have an extra one to give my brother, to which they s graciously agreed (Thank you!) The next day I went to see my Brother and presented him with his medal. You could see the pride in his eyes for what I had accomplished. He is a good Brother. He wore his medal all day and would show it off to everyone around. When I was leaving he said "Congratulations on running your race" I replied, "My race was nothing compared to yours!"

Jean Marie, I want to thank you specifically for all your hard work with me. You were just what I needed for this Marathon, a God Send. I could not have done it without you.

I also want to thank my Wife , Lara and our 4 children for supporting me through all the training and the future training.

I also want to thank the Pineland Striders running group for helping me with my mileage and being such a great group whom I have made some great friendships through.

I also want to thank all those who contributed to The Spinal Research foundation.

Marathon this sunday!

I don't like posting without pictures but today I have no choice! I went early this morning to spend time with my brother at Magee Hospital before going over to the Philadelphia Convention Center for the marathon expo.

I wanted to take some pictures and post them on the blog but did not necessarily want to carry an SLR over to Philly for just a few shots. I grabbed my daughters camera, a point & shoot. Of course there were no batteries in it, so I took some batteries out of my one flash (since all my other batteries are charging) I put a new CF card in and off I went.

I did take some pics of my brother at the hospital and showed him how much weight he had lost. When I got to the convention, I took my camera out and turned it on and it died right there! Ugh! Oh well-

So anyway, this sunday I am going further than I have even gone before twenty six point two miles! I have some successful long runs and not so successful long runs , but I feel confident that I will make the whole course on sunday.

One of the things I saw at the hospital was the Magee Eagles, a quad rugby team. They are actually playing a 3 day tournament this weekend in Deptford NJ. I wish I could go see them- i have been wanting to but this weekend is going to be too crazy!

Sunday, November 2nd was Erin & Todd's Wedding. They are a great couple and it was my pleasure to shoot their wedding and to get to know them. They were married at Village Presbyterian Church in Mt. I got a chance to shoot cute little Morgan. We met up at Batsto Village. It was my first time being there. What a neat little place. I am definitely going back with my family.

As we get ready for our youngest daughter's school halloween parade I took some shots of our youngest, Lincoln in his costume- I used my best " Gotham City" backdrop I could find, which is actually a building I shot at Rosemont College.

I met up with Stephanie and Joao on Monday in LINCROFT NJ at BROOKDALE COLLEGE where they first met. It was a beautiful fall day. I wish some of the leaves were more colorful, but all in all it was a nice fun day. It was great spending time with the couple and we got some great shots.

Saturday was Kristin & Brian's Wedding. They had their ceremony at one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. The HADDONFIELD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH was just recently renovated and was nothing short of spectacular! The reception was held at the SCOTLAND RUN COUNTRY CLUB in Williamstown. They have a beautiful facility ,the food was delicious and the staff was extremely courteous! We love it there! Entertainment was provided by Dj Jagged from AMBIENT DJ SERVICE- he rocked the house!

We had the pleasure of photographing Sami's Bat Mitzvah last week. The event took place at Congregation Beth El in Cherry Hill. Entertainment was provided by an awesome group ALL AROUND ENTERTAINMENT. They even had their own dancers and really got the crowd going! Saturday was Mayumi & Jonathan's wedding in Woodbridge Va. The ceremony and reception were held at Osprey Landing on the Belmont Bay. It was perfect weather, a little too sunny for my liking, but a very nice day. Mayumi & Jonathan are sweethearts and it was a pleasure documenting and sharing their special day. Friday Night was Rebecca & Andy's wedding. They had an outdoor ceremony at Auletto's Caterers in Almonesson NJ. The reception was at the same location and guests enjoyed cocktail hour in one of the facilities wine cellars. The grounds of Auletto's is spectacular and allowed for multiple picture locations. Busy Weekend

We had 2 weddings this weekend. Rebecca & Andy on Friday in Almonesson NJ and Mayumi & Jonathon in Lorton Va. I told my assistant that I wanted to get up early on Sunday and hit the Lincoln memorial at sunrise (of which he was stoked for!)

It was inspiring to stand under one of my most revered hero's Abraham Lincoln. For those of you who do not know, I am named my only son after this great man.

The sunrise from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial was breathtaking- Lincoln has the best seat in DC!

Two teachers unite! Christine & Kevin were wed at St Joan of Arc in Marlton NJ and had their reception at the Grand Ballroom in Collingswood NJ.

Hawkins Road played at the reception and got everyone up and dancing!

I thought about not posting these pictures because I did not want to bring anyone down but the reality of it is that this is good, this is progress. My brother (as well as the rest of us) have been waiting along time for him to get to this point. Today is his first full day in a wheelchair and he is still learning how to operate it. They have a street simulation on the roof to allow patience the opportunity to practice going up curbs, roll on uneven surfaces, get into a phone booth, etc.

We expect Raul to be home by Christmas. Thanks again for all your prayers and support.

I will be doing the Philadelphia Marathon this November 23rd in Raul's honor.

Friday was the wedding of Karen & Mike. The day started off the Grand Victorian in Spring lake for the getting ready shots. Then we went to Matisse Catering of Belmar NJ.

As pending rain storms forced us under the balcony, it did not damper the spirits. I had so much fun with the family- They are a great bunch of people!

We were away until today at my Friend Trudi's house in the Pocono Mountains. She is putting together a website to rent her house out and asked if I would go and take some pics. The house is on a private drive and is right on a lake. They have a few boats that you can use to scoot around. I used the canoe and my 100-400 on a tripod to stalk the great blue heron- I was so scared that I might flip the boat and fall into the water with my camera gear- Yikes! I was able to get so close to the big bird and really did not need all 400 mm's to get the shot. I would come out in the morning and see this buck grazing across the lake everyday. There are all kinds of song birds singing and flying around all day long. I even had a beautiful little hummingbird fly right next to my head (he was trying to get to the feeder Trudi has out for him) I stayed perfectly still and he was about 8 inches from me for a split second- wish I had the camera out then!

Anyway- the house is being rented out. If you want the contact info just give me a shout and I will forward that to you. I will also post a link as soon as their site is live.
